We are delighted to welcome Slider the otter and Seeker the raven to Nadaka. Slider was created by artist Rip Caswell and Seeker was created by artist Chad Caswell. The bronze statutes were made possible by the generous donation of Joan Albertson, Gresham Outdoor Public Art and the artists. Read more here in The Outlook.

On Friday, October 14, 2016 the Portland Monthly magazine awarded the Friends of Nadaka a Light A Fire Award in the category of Game-Changing Project. This award recognized an innovative collaboration that generates a transformative impact for one or more nonprofits. There were over 100 nominations submitted of which seven were given to organizations and five to individuals.

Everyone is welcome to the 6th Annual Nadaka Community Festival to be held at Nadaka Nature Park in Gresham on August 20th from Noon to 3:00pm. Portland Audubon’s live educational birds will be there and we’ll have activities for all ages. Free hot dogs (while they last), face painting and the Aztec dancers will perform in the meadow. Community groups will have information tables.

Enter at NE 175th & NE Pacific where there is parking in the neighborhood or NE 175th & NE Glisan with parking in St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church parking lot. In collaboration with our partner, Audubon Society of Portland, we would like to encourage everyone to enroll in their Backyard Habitat Certification Program. 
If you live in Gresham and register before the end of the year the City of Gresham will reimburse you the $35 registration fee. A special technician will come out and give you great advice about native plants and birds as well as a discount to purchase native plants. If you don’t get registered before the end of the year it is still well worth the $35.
Give yourself and the birds a gift and make your yard more lovely and a better home for birds.
