army1-300x225-7873402On June 15 & 16, 2013 the 671st Engineering Company of the Army Reserves came out to Nadaka to move boulders out along NE Glisan.  They also worked with other volunteers removing weeds from the future community garden area.

The 671st and other volunteers put in a total of 690.5 hours and we can’t thank them enough.  Also Jazzy Bagels donated their delicious bagels for the volunteers.  Check out more photos from the event on the Photos page.

In honor of Father’s Day why not spend the morning at Nadaka on Saturday,          June 15th helping cleanup the park by removing invasives, clearing weeds from the future community garden and begin moving the boulders out along NE Glisan.  The Army Reservists will be there to do the boulder moving but there will be alot to do in the park.  Cleanup activities will begin at 9:00 am and end around 1:00 pm.  Come dressed for the weather and we will have work gloves, shovels, and other equipment needed for the cleanup.  Refreshments will be provided for volunteers.boulders-300x225-9678266  For more information contact Lee at leewilkeseastna@hotmail.com or 503.998.1044.  Bring your Dad or any other special person.

The Saturday, March 30, 2013 Oregonian did a story on the boulders to be used in the nature based play area.  Even without being officially in the nature based play area they are already being enjoyed.  Check out the gallery for more photographs of the boulders.
