Joey Wojtas of Scout Troop 606 chose Nadaka to do his Eagle Scout Service Project in the Fall of 2013. This was not the first time Troop 606 has done a project at Nadaka and their Scouts continue to volunteer at Nadaka.
Joey organized the project which included clearing a very messy area in the park, mulching the area, planting new native plants and installing a bench. The Troop also removed ivy from an area in the park that was described as being “a sea of ivy”. The new bench area will become the northern most edge of the nature based play area to be completed this summer. Troutdale Sand & Gravel donated the cement and bench mold and the estimated donated cost of the project was approximately $800 not counting the volunteer time.
There were 28 individuals from the Scout Troop involved in this project for a total of 183 volunteer hours.
