SOLVE

A big thank you to all those who helped with the SOLVE Earth Day Cleanup at Nadaka.  Invasives were removed from the forest and work was done in the community garden as well.  Check out The Outlook article here.

Removing invasives and mulching trails at Nadaka.  You can preregister for this event at the SOLVE website.  Tools and gloves will be provided as well as refreshments for volunteers. Great opportunity to improve Nadaka and make new friends.  Registration table located at North entrance, NE 175th & NE Pacific in Gresham.

dscn39291-300x225-8713698Come out to Nadaka on Saturday, April 18th beginning at 9:00am until Noon to participate in the SOLVE cleanup.  Go to the SOLVE website to pre-register for this event.

Tools and gloves will be provided as well as refreshments for volunteers.  Its a great opportunity to improve Nadaka and make new friends.  You will also get a chance to see the new two acre addition to the park which includes a nature based play area, community garden and picnic shelter.

Its happening Saturday, Sept. 27th.  The Fourth Annual Nadaka Community Festival & Cleanup.  Nadaka is a beautiful 10 acre forest where we will be removing invasives and litter in the morning from 9:00am to Noon.  You can pre-register with SOLVE for this event here.  If you would like to volunteer to help with the Festival beginning at 11:00am with setup, etc. you can do that at our partner, Columbia Slough Watershed Council’s website.

The Nadaka Community Festival will be held after the cleanup from Noon to 3:00pm where volunteers will be treated to hot dogs, music and activities for the family. The Audubon Society of Portland will have their live birds and you will be entertained by Aztec dancers from Ollin Yolliztli as well as NW PanMan Terry Baber on his steel drum.

SOLVE Cleanup at Nadaka on April 26th was a success for everyone.  37 volunteers came out to help remove invasives for this Earth Day cleanup with SOLVE. sol81-300x225-8858798On April 20, 2013 there was a cleanup at Nadaka with SOLVE.  There were 38 people who participated logging in 103 hours of volunteer time.  With a small grant from SOLVE the Friends of Nadaka were able to purchase 20 pair of work gloves, 4 large Sword Ferns and 3 Currants which were planted by the Girl Scouts.  Check out the gallery for more photographs from the event.

A big thank you to Jazzy Bagel for again furnishing their wonderful bagels and the Wilkes East Neighborhood Association for furnishing the porta potty.  The Center for Family Success donated apple juice and bananas for the event.

There is a SOLVE event scheduled again this year on Saturday, April 20th from 9 am untl 1 pm.  Join other Friends of Nadaka to help improve the park.  If you know  students looking for community volunteer opportunities, Scouts, ball or soccer teams, church groups or businesses please pass on this information.
