Nadaka Community Safety Meeting

Meeting to discuss safety issues at Nadaka Nature Park.  Community is invited.  Speakers to include Gresham Police Dept., CVIP, NET (Neighborhood Enforcement Team), Gresham Mediation Specialist, Gresham Parks Dept. representative, Wilkes East Neighborhood Association representative, Friends of Nadaka, Nadaka Ambassadors, St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church.  This will be an opportunity to discuss safety issues at the park and what the community can do to get involved and make things better.

MLK DAY of Service at Nadaka!

Join Friends of Nadaka this MLK Day of Service to restore a healthy habitat at Nadaka Nature Park and give back to the community. We will be removing invasive species such as English Ivy from the 10 acre forested portion of the park.

Tools, gloves, and light refreshments will be provided. Dress to work in natural areas: long pants, warm cloths, and closed-toe sturdy shoes. Please bring a water bottle and a friend!

Where: Nadaka Nature Park – 17615 NE Glisan Street Portland, OR 97230.

-Meet at the picnic structure on the Glisan Street side of the park.

There are two locations for parking.

1) St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church parking lot next to Nadaka Nature Park located at 17405 NE Glisan Street Gresham, OR 97230.

 2) Nadaka Nature Park north entrance at NE Pacific Street and 176th. You may park in the neighborhood and follow the path through the forest to get to the picnic structure.

Nadaka Community Festival

Everyone is invited to the 5th Annual Nadaka Community Festival to be held on the south two acres of Nadaka and on the meadow.  There will be free hot dogs while they last, fun activities for children and families, live music and dancing. There will be an Interpretive Nature Walk with the Audubon Society of Portland from 9am to 10am.

Location: 17615 NE Glisan Street Portland, OR 97230. (Even though the address says Portland the park is located in Gresham).

 Entrances/Parking: Parking is available in the Wilkes East neighborhood or in the St. Aidan’s parking lot next to Nadaka. Entrances are at 176th and NE Pacific St. or 176th and NE Glisan St.

Cleanup at Nadaka

Rain or shine.  Come dressed for weather.  Help improve Nadaka by removing invasives, trail maintenance, weeding planted beds and litter removal. Work gloves and tools provided.  Refreshments for volunteers. Learn which plants are native to Nadaka and which are invasives and need to be removed. Even if you can only volunteer for One Hour it will help.  There is so much to be done at Nadaka to keep it looking like the wonderful park it is.

Festival Committee Meeting

Everyone invited to attend the Nadaka Festival Committee Meeting to help make plans for the 5th Annual Nadaka Community Festival which will be held on Saturday, August 22nd this year.  With the addition of the community garden, nature based play area, covered picnic shelter, etc this promises to be the best Nadaka Festival ever.  We need volunteers to make this happen and that means you!

Nadaka Ambassadors Meeting

The Friends of Nadaka are forming an Ambassador program to involve volunteers who are willing to volunteer at Nadaka.  Some things Ambassadors may do will be walk through the park to be eyes on the park, talk to people and perhaps pick up any liter they see.  The program is brand new and we need volunteers with suggestions and the desire to improve Nadaka.  Come to help the Friends of Nadaka figure out what an Ambassador will do.
